This five year project was completed in 2016 and
included the construction of a new hotel and
conference center, a lightweight commuter rail station,
public plaza, and extension of baggage/train systems.
The luggage tug trains had to move and unload on the floor directly above the conference center. Kinetics supplied a LSM system with two-inch deflection springs for a four-inch thick slab.
While it cannot be easily seen in this picture, PPI (Perimeter & Penetration Interface) material has been installed around the column to prevent an acoustical short. The column guard and curb are tied into the isolated slab.
Special resilient limits stops were placed along joints in the concrete to prevent the large load of the luggage tug from over deflecting the springs.
In the foreground spring parts are being laid out next to each isolator location following supplied shop drawings.
The since updated Spring Assembly ready for use. Note the orange springs (lighter capacity) near the perimeter.
